Rain here too.
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

Well, it's not a great pic, taken with my cell phone. But here's another 10 pts.... :(
I guess he's been tagging people out there all day.

And no, it's not a "real" ticket, thank goodness!

But you all really should try this. Asking the cop for a favor is definitely worth 10 points!

OK you two....put those rainslicks on and go get those pics! You CANNOT let me take the lead by default! Besides, I can't run the next hunt. I'm going to be out of the country for the last 2 weeks in Sept.

Well, I'm sure my little lead is only temporary. I had to do the cop picture just to get back in the running. :)
sailortot and Orange Guy could still beat me even without a cop picture.

Oh, I'll have a picture ... it just might not be as good as I had hoped. The rain would keep me from making the 1 hour trip to the Galesburg Amtrak station (where they have a steam train on display).

Luckily, my default train station is now a coffee shop favored by the Illinois State Police.

Nice job MarsR! America's Finest working it for points :)

I got my b/f to dig around and find his conductor's cap this weekend. I cleaned it up and figured out the perfect angle by the train station...and then the first day of school came (I'm on a college campus) and it's been 12-14 hour days (and dark when I get home). I hope I can get out tomorrow at a decent hour for a pic. And I'm trying for the Acela as sotied already got a MBTA train.

Well, it looks like I'm done. Little sleep due to a nasty sinus cold, 100% chance of heavy rain all day and the fact that the trains switched to a night schedule a couple months ago add up to me not having a pic this week.

Eagerly awaiting Scavenger Hunt 2.0!

Ooh, so THAT'S where our little Gustav went. I was kind of wondering who was getting him now.

The one nice thing about living on the gulf - as long as the hurricane misses you, you actually get pretty nice weather. It's like all the bad stuff is concentrated in it, leaving nice weather behind it.

The rain seems to be letting up a bit, but it's still going to require rain gear. Bib overalls over or under the rain gear? Not sure if I'm going or not.

sailortot ... where's your pic? Having any luck?

Glad I got my picture in yesterday before the rain. No good stories this week. I was just waiting for a cop to show as I was parked in a handicap space.

My bride wanted to make sure that I pointed out that the bib overalls are standard issue for me in the winter, much to her dismay. Nothing more comfortable than a pair of overalls.

Once again, I would like to thank SL for taking the time to organize this. You did a great job on everything  . This has made for a fun summer.

Anyways... here goes....

4 pts- your scooter with a train
2 pts – your scooter at a train station
1 pt – if you are in the photo (entire body & scooter)
2pts – if you are wearing a train engineer’s hat
1pt – if you are wearing a bandana around your neck
2pts – if you are wearing bib overalls

Total 12 points.

Here's the station.

Here's the sign for the station.

Here's the train.

And here's the failed first attempt.

Yes, I'm really wearing bib overalls, but I wasn't about to take off the lower half of the raingear. My palms are black from the chilly mixture of water and leather.

And that's all. Barring an officer ringing my doorbell in the next 4 hours, I'm done!

BTW, let me make a pitch for DriDucks. It kept the wind and rain out, didn't make me sweaty and it all folds up into a really small bundle.

Congrats, sailortot! You will be the recipient of a bunch of free MB and other stuff, once I have all the stuff to send! I'll be PMing you!

ScootLemont, once again you're to be commended for taking this on and doing such a good job. You've set the standard for future huntmasters.

Congrats sailortot!

I tried to get the ticket photo, Closest I came was getting a cop to stop, I asked him, but he was on his way to another call, said he'd come back in a while and do it. He was even the K9 unit, coulda had some angry dog action or something.

But he never came back. I was sad.

While I am waiting for the video to be ready on youtube, I want to acknowledge a few photos. It was great fun seeing everyone’s pics every week but there were a few standouts for me:
Sailortot’s photo with the firemen sitting on the scooter & the flashing lights on
Brape’s photo with the little league game
Orange guy’s pic with his scooter & the vespas in week 3
KRUSTYburger’s pic with the truck
OScoot!’s Arthur Ashe photo
Sotied’s lighthouse
SANTRO-PEY’s history pic with the old mill
Sailortot’s end of the trail statue
All of jsprandel’s pics from DC
Olivemusic’s 4th of july display
OScoot!’s 19th floor office pic
All the pics of the staplers in Jell-O (I really didn’t think more than one or two people would do that)
MarsR’s picnic
Raecenut’s & Holly Buddy’s beach photos
Sikken’s golf pic (nice pants!)
Butero’s golf pic (nice skirt!)
Olive Music & SANTRO-PEY’s photos with the Welcome to Machesney Park sign
Orange Guy with the Harley guys
BiscuitHead with the deer head, live fish & the stolen U of I sign (that still cracks me up)
This week there were lots of great pics but the one that cracks me up is syd with the engineer’s hat on top of his helmet

Thanks again to EVERYONE who played this summer – I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did & I hope it keeps going!

The week 14 video is up

A fitting tribute to your last week, ScootLemont!

Also, bonus hilarity: I don't think those are the original Pips. Took me a minute of "Hey, that looks like…" Well, two of the "Pips" have recorded albums at least. :)

I really think sailrtot nailed it at the end. Both photos are great ... hanging on the train is a classic look and the cop/ticket pic with the flashing lights and hands on hips is perfect.

Yay for Game #2!

Just a suggestion.... and to avoid delay I would say go ahead and post and then let round 1 run long.. but starting a new game on Monday seems to me would be better. That way we would have time to plan or find locations and then get out there and take pics on the weekends.

Of course I don't rule the world just yet, so however it gets played, I'll play. :)
