Just had to say thanks for allowing me to relive a childhood memory.
I lived right around the corner from Bracket as a kid and played on that very
rocket. In fact, I remember it being built! It made the front page of The Star.

No,I can honestly say that I wasn't one of them. I've been away from MPLS for 40 yrs at least,did they remove it for a while or what?
I remember being one of the first kids to play on it, I couldn't have been any older than 6 at the time....let's see, that would have been around 1964 (scary thought!). We moved out to Bloomington,where I lived until 1979, when I got married at 21.

Cool! I remember when I was kid and the only thing that was under it was black top. No wood chips or sand like the playgrounds today.
