roughouse won't start

Post by Mj1010 »

My Genuine Roughhouse won't start. Sometimes it takes me 20-30 minutes to finally get it going. This morning (9am) it took me 7 minutes to finally starting it by kick starting it. The battery has been on a tender so it's not the battery. I went out 3 hours later(12 pm) to start it up and no go. I tried for 30 minutes. I'll give it another shot at 3:30. Any suggestions, i really don't want to call a tow

Can you hear it cranking when you try to start it? Does it stay running easily once you get it going?

When I press the electric starter button it just makes a nigh nigh nigh nigh sound until I let it go. If I try to give it gas, nothing happens.
Sometimes it will run easily once I get it going but today the engine stalled or shut down after 20 seconds but I was able to electric start it right after.

A friend told me to put my hand or foot over the intake to create pressure, but I have no idea where that is on the roughhouse.
If I could find it, would that help?

Same thing is going on with my RH. The starter isn't cranking. Kick start works for me, then electric start works for the rest of the day. It's an on again, off again thing for me for the first start of the day. My dealer told me last year this happens with about 10% of the RH50s and requires a part replacement which he said I could do myself.

Hhhmmm...Interesting. What exactly is the replacement part?
It's driving me a lil crazy!

Don't remember, may have been a new starter. At any rate it is not good to keep hitting that starter for an extended period of time with no load on it. That whirring you hear is telling you the engine is not being turned over. And as you are also giving it gas while you're doing that you may be causing the stalling problem once you do get it started. Best bet is to call your dealer.
