Not getting fuel to carb?

Post by masterofillusion »

I cleaned the carb today, like every spring. The fuel is not getting to the carb. I sucked on the intake hose to see if it would come out of the petcock but nothing happens. 800 mi, could the petcock be bad? I am stuck on this one. thanks for any advice.

It's a vacuum petcock, so sucking on the petcock to carb hose will NOT net positive results. You should remove the manifold to petcock hose (that provides vacuum) at the manifold and remove the petcock to carburetor hose at the the carb. Apply negative pressure (suck) on the manifold hose a wee bit. You should hear or feel the diaphram in the petcock move and gas should then flow out the other hose at the carb end. If this isn't working, then chances are, your petcock is toast.

Thanks, the manifold hose is what I meant. I tried it for a longer period and it worked. Runs like a bat out a hell. To bad we pay big bucks for such poor quality gas. I had to clean the carb also.
