First week with new Brit 50

Post by Clydeo »

No pictures yet (I have to figure out how to shrink them down a bit), but we have been enjoying our new Brit this week. Winter has returned to Central PA, so most of my rides have been short (an hour or less). We have put about 120 miles on it, and I have to confess that I have been very impressed. My only experience with 50 cc bikes was back in the 70's and 80's with a couple of restricted Vespas in Boston and the DC area. They maxed out at around 30 mph, and were very slow to accelerate. I was expecting the Brit to be somewhat similar. To my surprise, the bike is reasonably quick (I have been trying to behave during the break-in period, but 40 bmph has been easy), stable, and easy to ride. My Suzuki TU250 is getting inspected this week, and my wife needed the car to drive to Philadelphia for professional training, so that left me with the Brit during a three day weekend. I was able to get groceries (rear rack, bag hook, and back pack), take my daughter to the bank, and just generally run errands all over the place. The bike did everything it was asked to do without complaint. My wife and daughter are taking turns riding it back and forth in the alley behind the house, getting ready for taking the MSF course this Spring. They both absolutely love it! I am not ready to give up my Suzuki yet: my wife and I enjoy touring together too much to give that up! But I have to confess that I am really enjoying the scooter a lot more than I Had expected.
