2008
I've been changing engine oil + filter annually- Average of 244 miles! I think that's pretty good...
My O.M. states, change at 1000 km which is about 609 miles? Is that correct?
Cannonball Run people wouldn't get too far...
I can dig changing Gear Oil at 3,045 mile intervals though

Re: 125 oil change interval
Under what conditions could your scooter possibly need it's oil changed every 250 miles? You are throwing your money away. 600 for the initial oil change, 2k thereafter. New filter every other change.

Re: 125 oil change interval
What DeeDee said. I did the first 600 mile change then every 2000 miles after. Oil filter every other oil change. My Honda PCX says I should change my motor oil every 4000 miles. I'm kinda on the fence on that but its what Honda has in the manuals, so I'll go with it I guess.

Re: 125 oil change interval
In the old owner's manuals the recommendation was every 1000km or ~600 miles. The new manual has it at about 1,875 miles, but they also are recommending you use a full synthetic JASO MB oil. Some years ago Genuine even recommended ~1,500 miles even with non-synthetic oil.
The following is all opinion-
I personally have had good engine life running normal oil and changing every 1,200-1,500 miles. On my really high mileage engines I will occasionally push that to close to 3,000, but I try to change it every 2,000 miles. I would recommend changing more often on new engines with less than 5,000 miles.
As for the oil filter, once the engine has a few thousand miles on it you can start changing it every other oil change. On high mileage engines I will only change the filter every 3rd or 4th oil change.
But for you since you ride so little I don't think it will hurt to change it once a year. I would rather see you change your oil every year than to change it at 1,875 miles which would mean an oil change every 7-8 years.

Re: 125 oil change interval
Most modern big Piaggio engines call for 6,000 mile oil change interval. I like saving money as much as the next guy, but 6,000 between changes makes me a bit nervous. OIl sitting in a crankcase degrades very little in 1 year. Heat and friction do more of a number on it than time. I've never inquired about the oil change interval on a knick knack.

Re: 125 oil change interval
Just due to the time elapsed. However, I've been putting more miles on it lately. Even if I don't make 2,000 miles by next July, I'll still change it. A quart of oil annually isn't that much $$$$$$. I overmaintain my Burgman too. Small engines that work hard...
So, it seems that my O.M., which states "Replace (oil) every 1000 km" is wrong.
Thanks
