My new ride

This is my "new" Super Sherpa. It is a dual sport (on or off road) which is designed a little more towards road use, but which makes it ideal for dirt or gravel situations. I bought it on ebay and picked it up yesterday at Mid-Ohio Vintage Motorcycle days. I rode it the 2 hours home. (2 hours because I wasn't ready for the Interstate) I have an older CB 550, which I have only ridden a handful of times, so in reality I haven't driven a shifter in 3-4 years, and that was mostly during MSF training. We rode home in a light mist, but luckily the downpours were over at that point. I am already in love with this bike. It is just enough different from the buddy to be used in different riding situations, but still nimble as hell, but where keeping both is more than justifiable. It has disc brakes on the front and the back, a beautiful stainless steel exhaust, digital speedo, which is both strange and handy (tripometer) No tach, but the shifting times are pretty obvious. It is a 250 single cylinder, and it is about 3 inches lower than other 250 dual sports, which means I can easily touch the ground, but my dismounts are as far from graceful as they can be still.

Nice bike, my questions is did you get on some demos at Mid-Ohio Vintage Motorcycle days. I used to live in Richmond, In. and would love to go there and get on all the demos for the different bikes. I had blast. I wish I could still go.

No, it was my first time there, so I was unsure of what to expect. The amount of items for sale was absolutely endless. It was also raining there almost all day. I think next year we will try to go for the whole weekend and camp, and come with a list of parts/items we are looking for.

I love the way they look too, which is why I got it. Mostly it was just too much when I got it. It is a much heavier bike, not super heavy but over 400 lbs. and it just intimidated me. I rode it around the neighborhood a few times, but that's all. One of the carbs was leaking and I didn't have time to work on it, and couldn't afford to have it fixed. Now, the front brakes need work, the fork seals are leaking, carb issue is still there. Stuff that I know how to work on now, and I do have some time, but I am still much more comfortable on a lighter bike. I still love that bike, but I am going to sell it, mostly can't justify 3 bikes even though they are all very different.

I would imagine that after shifting for a while, I will regret getting rid of that bike, but I am committed to it. I transferred the plates from that bike to the new one, so as far as the state is concerned it's a done deal.
