Modern Buddy

I had a guy from the local chopper shop do a leather seat for me.

It turned out even cooler than I had hoped and I thought I'd share some shots.

Instead of buying a new bag, you could maybe get the guy who did your seat to put matching leather just on the round sides and replace the straps... I don't think that would cost very much. Oh yeah, if you do decide to get rid of the bag, I'll be happy to take that off your hands. Was that like crazy expensive or what?

Ever since I picked up the seat i've been searching the web for a brown leather roll bag, with no luck.

i'm going to take the scooter by the guy's place tomorrow and see what he thinks he can do with the prima bag.

He should be able to dye the leather to get it at least close. It may not have the "grain" that the seat does but it'll be closer.

my reaction to that seat... OH MY GOD! that looks absolutely gorgeous!! beyond stunning!! that kind of leather belongs in a doctor or lawyers office, where they charge so much you think it is just for the privilege to see such nice leather. d@mn nice!!

I've got a message in to the craftsman to start brainstorming ways to alter the Prima bag.

These scooters are certainly an addiction, aren't they?

Any gas savings went right out the window as soon as I started down the accessories path.

I'm not bitter in the least, but it certainly does make me chuckle that part of my justification for buying in the first place was all the money I'd save.

How about this: I got a big insurance settlement from a scooter crash (obviously not my fault). They had already replaced the totaled Buddy, so I used a chunk of it to mod my Vespa. Figured I deserved it for pain and suffering, and for being unable to scoot for a few weeks due to injuries.

And, yeah, if it's not accessories, it's the "other" or "next" scooter we all eventually start thinking about.

That seat is sick! That is exactly what I wanted to do with mine. Cost?

Cost was around $500.

I was expecting to pay for good craftsmanship, and I did.

It might be a bit much for a $3000 scooter, but I plan on riding this thing until it will no longer go. Hopefully it will average out over time.

Looking at that seat... you could run your buddy to the ground, unbolt it and put it on your next buddy

That is so true about the addiction to these scooters. I keep looking for more ways to personalize/customize it. The good thing is it doesn't really break the bank in comparison to a motorcycle or the higher priced Vespas.

I bought mine for commuting and some recreation without my wife really seeing what the buzz was about in riding. Now she is asking me what am I going to get to ride because she is trying to claim mine! I also got a few neighbors in on the action. Another Buddy 125 and a Kymco 250. The other Buddy owner and I are brainstorming on making parts.
