Weekend Challenge

Eric's picture gave me an interesting idea for a challenge for everyone. Ride somewhere take a picture of your Buddy or other scooter (no motorcycles or cars) in an interesting place or surrounded by some nice scenery.
Assignment due on Monday to be graded by the moderators.

This is a fun idea tho.

But I'll be riding solo.

I'll say no additional scooterist required. But if anyone wants to play, I'll move the thread to the Gallery section since it will be mostly pics and put an announcement in this forum.
Something going on at ModernVespa that I really dig: scooter tag! Check out the posts in their
Gallery forum. Looks like much fun, but will obviously only work in certain areas/communities. So many scooters in the LA-area; don't know why we don't have it here. I've seen a similar "game" being played on Flickr, basically a "guess the location" thing.

Actually, both the picture and scooter tag idea sound pretty fun! Is this thread being moved to the gallery then? I'd like to post a pic once I go to my destination Saturday. I may not have a 2nd in the pic, but we'll see.

No extra scooterist required. Sometimes its just a little more enjoyable to have someone else along.
My pic will be posted Sunday night.
So take your best picture. You can tell us where it is if you want. We just want to admire the Buddy, scenery or something interesting.
Scooter tag is fun. I've been playing SD Tag over on MV. But there isn't enough of us on MB in one area to play Scooter Tag.

We've playing for a while over at
STN, though I haven't had a very good showing...

All you need is a surfboard next to your Buddy. You have a great eye for pictures.

awful....nice photo with the contrasting color of the water and the Buddy.
Now, if it was a Pink Buddy I could dream I was in CA instead of cool/rainy, snow coming MN.
Nice photo!
good shot!

Susan and I went on a Halloween-themed scooter run today.
Here's a pic:
And YES, there was candy in the pumpkins! What you can't see are the Halloween static cling decorations that I got at Target.
The helmet ears are from Aerostich.

I think 800 X 600 is the largest you can post up. I think you can link to another site like Flickr and have a larger photo there.
Travis, a bunch of us are still coming up your way tomorrow afternoon. They said that they want Mexican food at Don Chuey's (or something like that). Do you have time to meet up? Just PM me.
You have to show me a good site to take my picture. I didn't tell you that I have another scooter too.

That was really weird. It said that I was a "Guest".

Great idea for the pics with the “Weekend Challenge”
Been out of town a lot and being home only on the weekends I couldn’t get too much riding in but the wife an I (she has a People 150) took a ride on Friday.
This was an interesting formation in Rio Rancho NM.

Not sure if you can see the image, seems like I may have exceeded the limit of space allowed

I got up before the butt-crack of dawn to get this picture - I had other pictures in mind, but Phoenix had it's typically lousy air. Oh well, it was a nice ride; so nice I took it twice.
Then on the way home I spotted this other scene which I just had to shoot.
(Edited because I couldn't see the images unless I was logged in.)

Syd, My dealer keeps encouraging me to test the SYM 200 but I haven't had time yet. He loves it, though!
I may not even get to participate in the challenge! Been running around with the wife all weekend, but she has a sprained ankle and can't ride. Also, killer winds in LA the past 2 days. Up to 80Mph in Malibu, I hear!

Eddy Mercx and I rode in the country and the city today. Beautiful, 70+ degrees outside! Gotta love this global warming!

Put 75 miles on the Buddy today. Started out in the city, down by the harbor, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton. Then rode up Falls Road into Baltimore County for some country riding.
Got a few good shots. Unfortunately they're on my cell phone camera, so they don't look all that great.
Spent some time riding with a couple harleys, which was fun.
It was gorgeous out. 75 degrees or so, sunny, blue skies. It was a great ride.

This is like Buddys across America! I'm kind of overwhelmed by all the great scenery and getting a glimpse at people's weekend riding. The "challenge" may have to become a weekly feature here at MB!

So, I got the Buddy on Saturday. Here's the documentation of our first trip into the farm country of Jackson County, GA. This is just a few miles outside of Athens.
And here's me:

Some really cool picture ladies and gents.
Here's what happened to me today (Sunday). I was pretty sure that we would get some spectacular shots near the ocean today due to the Santa Ana wind conditions. I had no idea what was coming.
Some you probably have heard on the National news about fires here in Malibu and San Diego County. Fires to the east of San Diego made riding very difficult today. The fires, though 25 miles, away blew smoke and ash all the way out to the coast. I was riding with a small group and we had a smoky ride. My chest hurt a little because of the smoke.
Ash stuck to our goggles and face shields. Please bear with my pictures. I used my other scooter (People 150) today.

If anyone would like to crosspost theirs to the Buddy Flickr group (see link in my sig), that would be great, too. Just remember to mention ModernBuddy.com! I think it's a great way to increase the Buddy's visibility and promote the site.

Yes, please!!! I was at a conference in DC this weekend, so I couldn't participate in this challenge. Instead, I offer you two photos from last weekend's Rabble Rouser Scooter Rally:

I went for a nice ride this weekend. My folks live in Bellefontaine, which is west of Columbus, Ohio. I figured that there aren't many nice weekends left this fall, so I took advantage of it on the Burgman. I rode down Saturday morning and came back Sunday afternoon. There was a strong SSW wind both days, and very gusty. There were times I was going straight, but leaned over like I was on a curve.
Heading south, I went through the middle of the state to ride through Loudenville, the Mohican area, and Mount Victory. This hilly, forested area was just beautiful in the sun! The trees seemed to be the most colorful I have seen them in years. I didn't take any photos of them, because I didn't think I could capture the feeling of riding through them. There were a lot of motorcycles out, and a few vintage cars and convertibles, but I didn't see any other scooters. There was a steam engine coming through Mount Victory, and it was stopped at the station. It seemed like every family in town was there, waving to the engineer, taking photos, and enjoying the event.
The headwind heading south was killer, and the gusts had my head moving all over the place. Heading west I tried tucking on theopen road as much as I could to keep a low wind resistance. I can't wait until Clearview makes their new windscreen for the K7 Burgman!
Coming back I had a tailwind while riding north, and again a pretty strong crosswind heading east. The gusting kept me constantly trying to compensate in the open field areas.
All told, it was 344 miles, 7 hours 47 minutes travel time, 48.4 average speed.

Hi all! I just joined the group. Thanks for all the info. I chose a Buddy 125 mainly because of all the great reviews and support on this forum. Its now my primary vehicle for commuting and fun. What a great little machine! Heres my new scoot watching the Goodyear blimp circle the Rose Bowl last Saturday in Pasadena Ca.

Here's a suggestion, have someone choose a picture subject. Example: Water (Ocean, lake, river, creek), trains, landmark, fall colors, statues, etc. Show off your town or county.

The Missus and I rode through the Cleveland National Forest area of Teneja today, including a 20 mile Forest Service road, exiting near the Ortega Hwy above Lake Elsinore California. The Buddy and Rattler 110 both ran flawlessly, but I'm quite glad I tucked an extra gallon can of gas under the seat of my Rattler....I needed it.
