Scooter Photo Scavenger Hunt 2010 May Week 1: Cinco de Mayo
May 2- May 9

Note: if you haven’t joined the hunt yet, you can still jump in.
You do not have to go crazy with 20 point photos – If you want, feel free to go get the basic photo & post up. No one will give you a hard time here. We just want lots of people to play along – the fun part is seeing LOTS of scoots with the subject of the week.

This week’s hunt subject is a great suggestion from bpatrick5 – THANKS!

Your Scooter in a Cinco de Mayo celebration!

4Pts – your scooter at a Mexican Restaurant (we are looking for a restaurant that primarily sells Mexican food – an Italian restaurant that happens to be owned by a Mexican person is NOT what we are after) Taco Bell DOES count!
+2pts If there is a sombrero on the scooter (or get an extra point if you are wearing it – see below)
+2pts if there is a Mexican Blanket on your scooter (see photo below – we are looking for the colorful, usually striped, usually with fringe Mexican blanket – not your plaid bed spread that happens to be made in Mexico.) (or get an extra point if your are wearing it)
+3pts for a Mexican Flag (limit 3pts)
+2pts for a sign with Spanish phrase on it (note… burrito, taco, etc do NOT count. We are NOT look for menu items – we want something like Una buena comida or Abierto todos los días or something like that.)
+4pts for a fake burro in the photo
+6pts for a REAL (as in living) burro in the photo
+2pts for a sign (a real sign… not something you wrote on a piece of cardboard) that says Cinco de Mayo. This can be a paper sign that the restaurant has posted but we are looking for something the restaurant has posted, not something that you made… ok?)
+2 pts if you are in the photo
+3pts if you are wearing a sombrero
+3pts if you are wearing a Mexican blanket
+1 pt for the first pic in this week

Just to be clear, you can only count a sombrero or blanket one time… its either on your scooter or you are wearing it.

General Rules for every week:
-Only one photo may be submitted by each member for each week’s subject. (but if you get a better pic later in the week, POST IT with your new points - PLEASE edit your original post note that you posted a better pic and note in the newer post that it is a replacement for a previous pic.
-Old photos you have lying around can NOT be used- they must be NEW photos taken the week the photo subject was posted
-No Photoshop submissions

So what you mean is a "Mexican-theme restaurant", because Taco Bell does not actually sell Mexican food.

that's too easy, Taco Bell is in almost every suburban shopping center! I thought I had an advantage being so close to "Little El Salvador".

This was a tough category, unfortunately the large Latino population doesn't traditionally celebrate Cinco de Mayo anymore. I only found one establishment with a sign, but this was the only one with a flag... the only burro I can think of is the Donkey from Shrek!

I'll be content with a 12 pointer. Hopefully some of the SoCal and Arizona people can post something better.

If I had traveled just a little further, I think I could have maxed this out!! Pretty cool Baja restaurant/watering hole.

Eeyore counts, right? My Mexican blanket isn't as colorful as the example, but I did buy it in Nogales, Mexico

The blanket is exactly the kind we are looking for
Eeyore is a stretch but..... I am going to allow it. Donkey/Burro close enough for me this week.

Only 6 points, but I wanted to play too! I would have been in the picture, but I was alone, and the restaurant isn't in the type of neighborhood where you'd ask someone across the street to take your picture.

+2pts for a sign (a real sign… not something you wrote on a piece of cardboard) that says Cinco de Mayo. If you look through the van window you can see the restaurant's cinco de mayo sign - it actually said "5 de Mayo". Also the banners hanging in the window said "Carona de Mayo."
