Track day pictures (heavy Buddy content)

Post by Lagerhead »

The Midwest Scooter Racing League held their first track day of 2010 last weekend. Bonegirl, myself and Seth (the MWSR CEO) all showed up on Buddys and had a "pee your pants" good time.
Great track, (G&J kartway http://www.gandjkartway.com/)

Thanks. The blue tape is there to protect the lenses and to keep clear sharp stuff off of the track during any unscheduled dismounts.

Cool, I wish we had some paved tracks around here, we mostly get the dirtbike racing. Those pics are sweet!

Did you guys remove the center stand to get it to lean so much? In at least one of the photos, I could swear its missing. How fast are you going on the straight aways?

The center stand was taken off of both of the Black Buddys. Both of us still scraped the CVT cover (and our Prima pipes on the other side) quite a few times.

My bike doesn't have a speedo so I'm not completely sure, but I did do a comparatively slower lap on the pink bike and on the back straight, right after I started braking for the 180* right turn I managed to look down and saw that I was going 45 - 50 indicated.

We were running configuration "1b" and the back straight is the longest one. http://gandjkartway.com/images/gj_configs.pdf

Thanks for getting these posted!

I've (semi) seriously considered getting a small scoot (salvage?) to turn into a racer. Either way, I'd love to get out on the track.

2 scouting laps from my helmet camera.

It sure felt like I was going a lot faster.

Are you using a gopro? Because I have one and if you mount the camera lower then it looks like you're going way faster and the video leans with the scooter and it looks cool. I have mine on the air box pointing backwards, but if you could put it maybe like on the front fender or something that would be sweet.

Yep, I have the GoPro 5 wide. (I think it's the same as yours)

I've tried mounting it lower but every time I mount it to something other than my helmet, the video seems to turn out just a little too jiggly for my tastes. You can see the camera mounted to the side of my windshield in the picture of me from the first post.

Here's a little 2 min video I threw together just now to show what I mean.

You can see at 1:18 where I drag the CVT cover and scare myself.

I like the leaning of the windshield cam. It reminds me of Top Gun. But, with a slightly bumpy road, it is a little unnerving.

Yeah, it's a little bumpy, I thought with it being a track & all it might be smoother. Also I imagine it would be a little less giggly on a solid part of the scoot rather than the windshield? Either way, cool videos! :D
