Prima pipe on my Buddy 50....what do I do with this?

Got my pipe back from getting it ceramic coated. Before I even removed the stock pipe I noticed something that was not going to mount back on the Prima pipe. In the photo, its the the cylinder thing with the hose connected to it just above the stock pipe. The hose runs to the other side of the scoot and connects into the top rear of the gear box. On the stock pipe, it connects into the pipe itself. On the Prima pipe, there is no spot to connect it. One the pipe installation instructions, they don't even mention this piece and its not in the finished photo.

What is it?
What do I do with it now?
Do I just cut the hose? If so, where? Near the gear box..... near the pipe?

It doesn't connect to the gear box. That is in the back by the rear wheel. But yes, just remove it and plug the hole where the hose attached to the engine. It's an air 'injection' system. It adds fresh air into the exhaust system to 1) dilute exhaust emissions and 2) assist with emission reduction by changing temperature, oxidation or other catalytic process.

The simple answer is.....
It's part of the emissions system. You can plug the line coming out of the gear box and lose the canister.

:edit he beat me to it
