My watery day

Post by agrogod »

This morning everything started out normal as I was getting ready for work. With the exception of some very heavy thunderstorms that blew through last night, it was very wet with high humidity and anything that didn't get rain was soaked also.
Wheel the scoot out to the back of the sidewalk, center it, then start my checks. Pop the gas cap and check the fuel level. Its ok but I wanted to "top off" just to be sure . Lots of water around the cap area and I think "you should get a towel first and wipe that up" but evil half says "no just be real careful, it will be ok". So I get my gas can and fill up, it didn't take much as I suspected, and get the scoot started.
Head inside to get me gear while it warms up. Head back outside and off on my way. Stop at quickie Mart and pick some lunch items, then back on the road.
Now up until this point everything is going very smooth as I approach a red light and stop to wait my turn. Light turns green for go give some gas start to go and..................................
'choke, bog, choke, cough, die'. Hmmm, start up again, comes to life and...................'choke,bog,choke,cough,die'.
Tried a few more times with no luck. Lucky for me I was only about half a mile from the house. So I wheeled the beast home. and yes I drive a car.
Off to work again and finally getting there just in time.
Kept thinking what was wrong and only conclusion in this case was the water around the case cap, some went into the tank and caused me alot of grief.
I have confirmed that it was indeed water in the gas. Thanks to this fuel filter I was able to diagnose this small annoyance and get things back in order.
Ended up draining the "bad" gas out of the tank and replacing it with fresh ,removing the carb and draining ......twice :( . Things started to run clear and the sound of an engine starting and stay running made me :D .
So moral of story is "Don't ever listen to evil half again" ( yeah like that's gonna' happen)

I've had that happen with my Virago. I pulled the cap off while I went to the shed to get gas... freakin downpour and didn't realize I left the cap off until it was too late. I only had one vehicle at that time and didn't have enough time before work to change the gas. So, turkey basted the tank and wouldn't you know it, darn near vapor lock on the way to work not once but three times. So yeah, don't listen to the evil side of things. Well, unless you know that "evil is good and good is stupid." And then, you get a shiney gold star for knowing where that movie quote comes from.

Funny thing is I usually carry a rag with me for just such purpose's, but left it in the "glove box", and of course it was soaked. Well live and learn, sometimes its best to take the hard road. Tuck another life lesson under the belt.

And your quote is unknown to me so no gold star.

What's this thing got in it a Cuisinart?
So we've met for the first time for the last time?
Barffolomew?
The sweeps, the cheeps, and the creeps?

Please let us know when you've seen the movie. I don't know how to communicate with someone who hasn't seen it.

I know about the movie, I know some of the characters from the movie. I have tried to watch it from start to finish a few times. I can't get past the opening scene with the endless spaceship, I see that and its game over. Most ridiculous opening scene I have ever seen, it did not make me laugh, just made me ask "Why?"

So based on my above statement I will never watch this movie, ever! And I won't think any less of you if you have. Dark Helmet indeed.
