Just a little about me there, and now to the reason for my post... I've been lurking on the site here for a couple weeks now and have really enjoyed everyone's knowledge and enthusiasm in helping one another.

Many other forum sites are full of you-know-what's that would rather make fun than share what they know. I've never understood that... Anyhow, I've learned much and it's really gotten me interested in what possible mods I should look at that will benefit myself and the scooter. I did buy the R50 for a specific reason, that being transportation to and from work and a little joy riding on the side

I've begun de-restricting (did remove the "cone"in the exhaust) but haven't yet worked on the CVT. I'm off tomorrow and I've made plans to go to the repair shop I used to work at and remove the bushing so that should be that. Thanks to you guys, I know what to do!
My real questions concern what exactly to do after this is done. I guess my main concern with my scooter is doing whatever is recommended to keep my little 2-stroke running for a long time. I worry that it's running a bit lean and this should also be remedied tomorrow at the shop. Hopefully tune the carb, replace the spark plug, and then monitor my temp.'s and get it dialed in. These mod's with the exhaust and CVT shouldn't affect the fuel/air mix too much should they? It is the stock exhaust, stock Keihin carb (17.5mm I think?) and stock airbox. Nothing else has been done to my knowledge.
Once the tune-up is done including oil, crankcase oil, and good cleaning; where should I go from here? This is where I get lost because there's a lot of options with this setup... Currently it runs quite well.. It'll go 50 Bmph and accelerates well including climbing hills, etc. It does seem like I'm winding it out though in high gear. Like there's enough power to push up the top end speed, but Ive run out of gear! It doesn't seem like it should do this considering it's basically stock, but if anyone can identify with this, what did you do to remedy it? Maybe heavier rollers to increase the top speed? I also think the variator should be replaced as well as the clutch, but I'm not sure what effect if any these 2 things will have concerning the top end... Like I said, it shoots out of the block pretty darn well, and I don't want to lose all of that acceleration, but some sacrifice would be completely ok with me... What do you guys think?
Like I said, I want to ride my Roughy for a long time, so a BBK is not in the cards right now. I would like to gain more power through other means though... I was thinking about upgrading the stock Keihin carb to a slightly larger one and rejetting.... Next, a CDI ignition, coil, oil pump, exhaust w/ expansion pipe, etc. What do you think the best carb would be for the Roughhouse? A flat-side or CVK? Again, what are your opinions on this? Am I even anywhere close to doing things in the right order? I am the type of person that likes to do one mod at a time so that I can see, feel, etc the difference each part makes... It just makes sense to me!
Wow! This got longer than I had planned... Oh well... Last thing, really. Is it even worth doing the work and adding the above mentioned parts to a 50cc scooter? I'm just wondering if I can get it to be reliable, fun, and fast enough to keep up with the traffic on these 45mph roads that I have to ride on to get to work. If money weren't an option, I would have found a 125cc or 150cc to ride, but it just wasn't possible and I REALLY needed it fast! Plus, I only paid $600 for it with a little plastic damage and less than 2k miles on it! I think I did the best I could with what I had.
Anyways, I know there's a lot here but any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! I know that some of you are asking the same things I am, but I also know that some of you really know your stuff! So please help a newbie to the Genuine scene out, and I'll make all of you proud! Thanks!!!
