Post by tcas »

Is the Blur to large for a small women at 5' 2" My wife sat on the Buddy 125 and was nearly flat footed but the Blur per spec has a taller seat hieght.

I just sat on one yesterday. Its not her height, but her inseam thats going to make the difference. I posted a couple pictures of me sitting on the Blur in my thread on this same page.

For reference, I am 170lbs (+/- 5lbs), 5'-10", with a 31" inseam. The blur feels like it fits my body size just right. Off the kickstands, with a very slight lean, I was able to rest one foot flat on the ground. The Blur was surprisingly easy for me to keep balanced up at a stop, almost as easy as a large bicycle.

Another obstacle with the Blur is the center "hump" you have to lift your leg up over. It obviously doesnt have a walk though floor deck like most scooters. It wasnt a big problem for me, but a shorter person with short legs might have problems with it, or at least it might start to become an annoyance over time if shes frequently getting on and off the scooter.

The only real advantages to the Blur from the Buddy 125/150 from a performance standpoint is the larger tires on alloy wheels, bigger front brake, and the sportier (more aerodynamic?) plastic fairing sport-bike-like body.

Id say you try to find a local dealer that has one, even if its a shop owned demo, so that she can see how it feels.

you would have to look into getting the seat shaved imo.

My wife can only reach the ground with her toes and she has to be very forward on the seat to do it and she's 5'6" If she were any shorter, I would say it would not be very safe.

she would definately be better fitted on the Buddy - my wife is the same height and can not safely balance the Blur or my TGB50. SHe can however flat foot the Buddy, Vino, Metropolitan and other 'retro' styled scoots.

get her the Buddy and get the Blur for yourself

I'm 5'2" and I ride a Blur. I rode it for a few weeks and could basically only get my toes on the ground. I then had the seat shaved down a few inches and now it fits great! I still can't get both feet all the way down but I feel totally stable. Boots with thick soles and/or heels are helpful for short people as well.

Exactly, shave the seat and lean it to one side and flat foot it.

Yeah, I'd say it's too large for her...I'm 5'8" and I can't have both feet flat-footed on the ground. I can do one flat and one toe, so I usually just put one foot down.

...yeah, unless you want to do some seat-shaving.

I am 5-9 and keeping the bike center, I can only touch with my toes. That is not a problem as the bike is wel balanced and the effort on the toes is minimum.

If I am at a looong light, I shift my butt over a bit, lean the bike a bit in the same direction and flat foot on one foot.

At 5-2, I'd say is a bit too tall. You could minimize the problem by shaving off the seat and getting some thicker sole MC boots.

I think the Buddy would be a better choice.
Beer is the answer . . . what was the question?
