If I recall, the RH50 has a adjustable air/fuel carb and the Buddy 50 has a "fixed" carb, allowing no air/fuel adjustment. Somewhere in my garage I have the next size up (or 2?) of main and idle jets for a Buddy 50. I used to work on a pink Buddy 50 but no longer touch it because it's just unsafe to operate. If I remember I'll look for the jets and post the numbers. I'm sure I still have them. Oh, and use real Keihin jets, not those generic replacement jets. The real ones are accurate in the jet size stated and overall flow better/smoother, if that makes sense.

I got my real Keihin jets thru Scooterworks.

You can also, if you wanna have air/fuel adjustment options, order SKU# 1130-1118 for $240 from Scooterworks for the Buddy 50 OR get that nifty conversion/adapter intake and put a larger 17.5 or 19 Dellorto carb on both of them. I prefer the 17.5 Dellorto carb. Slightly better fuel economy than the 19.

You might get lucky and just be able to up-jet the stock carb and not need any air/fuel fine tuning. I've only been lucky twice. A pre-bug Zuma (Yasuni Z) and a Hyosung Sense 2-stroke (Tecnigas R). I miss that little Sense!

I forgot the thread title but its on here. I purchased a clean used pink Buddy 50 to help someone out with affordable transportation. The person who I got the Buddy for turned out to be a dumb bum. The poor Buddy has been hit twice with the owner on it, and 2 more times while parked. The front end is tweaked, every panel is cracked and the tires are super bald now. Oh, and they never take the time to wash it. The front end is covered in brake dust and the rear is covered in some kind of fluid. Last they reached out to me the Buddy wouldn't idle. It just needs to be scrapped at this point. I'm no longer helping someone who will not help themselves.

I almost kept the pink Buddy for myself. I was going to build a stealth blaster out of it but I had 2 Zuma bug-eyes and a pre-bug at the time. Space in my garage is tight and the last thing I needed was another scoot but that pink Buddy was so clean. Oh well, life rolls on.

Nice! Post pictures. I hate dirty 2 wheelers and keep mine spotless. If I ever see the pink Buddy I'll get a picture of it. I have another acquaintance that has a bug-eye Zuma. Same thing with that poor scooter. Bent forks, busted up panels and super dirty. I refuse to touch that one as well because it's unsafe. To some people scooters are just cheap transportation, I happen to actually like them so I treat them well.

Love that green color. It should clean up well except the non-shiny part under the front of the seat area and the inner foot well area. I don't know what it is about that plastic but once it gets dirty its a nightmare to clean. I've tried all sorts of concoctions to get stains out of it but haven't found anything that's a solid recommendation. My friend got so aggravated with that area getting a dripped stain look he pulled it off and semi-matte spray painted it. SYM scooters are victim of the same plastic under the seat looking nasty.

Now, onto the carb question that got us here. Again, IF I recall correctly, I seem to remember something about the carb on the Buddy being a 12mm and the RH has a 14mm? One is aimed at practical, but zippy, performance (Buddy 50) and the other caters more toward outright performance, hence the slightly larger carb on the RH. That's something I'm not 100% so sure about and I have yet to look it up to verify this rumor, so that's what I think the difference is. They both perform equally because of final gear ratios.

I haven't found those Buddy jets yet. I have a car going in the garage for a timing belt and dash removal soon. Gonna be (not) fun! I hate cars but this one is a back-up/fun car so no need to get the repairs done in a timely manner.

The air box on the buddy is different than the roughhouse

on yamahas the zuma and vino run similar carbs to each other with different airboxes
the stock zuma jet is 80 main and 44 pilot the vino is 68 main and 46 pilot

At least the garage floor looks clean. You have A.C. in that garage? My garage floor is nasty and I sold my motorcycle lift table awhile back.

That IS a BBK kit you linked. You'll also need:
A bunch of jets to set the air/fuel correct. It "should" work with stock carb?
Will have to swap the 3 clutch springs and torque spring to get the RPM's in the power band.
Make 100% you over-jet and go down. You cannot re-hone a nikasil lined cylinder.
You "should" be able to reuse the stock exhaust?

Me personally, I like the Malossi Cast Iron Street kit. More forgiving to tuning errors. And I know it works with the stock, or mild expansion chamber, exhaust systems. And I've seen it work with up-jetted stock carbs on Zumas.

But that aluminum Malossi kit you linked is a good bbk!
