Shark ION Robot R75: Best Robotic Vacuum Review

With several best rated, critically-acclaimed upright vacuum cleaners already under their belt, Shark has built for themselves quite a reputation on the market.

However, it looks like the company is no longer content with just being known for their “traditional” vacuums. The release of the Shark ION R75 serves as a direct statement that they’re looking to diversify their portfolio to include more advanced, cutting-edge household products like robot vacuums.

So, how good is the new Shark robot vacuum, really?

This shark ion robot 750 reviews have all of the essential info you need to know.

Familiar Design

The Shark R75 has the same circular design found in virtually every commercial robot vacuum.

But while it definitely doesn’t get any point for uniqueness, it does get points for style. The robot looks great with a luxurious matte dark finish that certainly makes the robot feel more expensive than it truly is.

A relatively minimalistic control panel at the top side of the robot also helps drive home the clean aesthetic that Shark was going for. There are only 3 physical buttons on the robot: a “Clean” button in the middle flanked by “Dock” and “Max” buttons.

The “Clean” button serves as a sort of power button for the robot. It will start to clean the room once pressed. To the left of the “Clean” button is the “Dock” button, which will command the robot to return to its charging dock. Last but not least, the “Max” button is going to juice the robot’s motor of all the power it can offer. This mode will be particularly useful for cleaning large messes or carpets.

Inside of the robot is a 14-ounce dust bin. The bin’s size is large enough for the robot to comfortably clean most households without overfilling.

Cleaning Power

According to various tests, suction power of the robot is around 1,000 Pa. With this kind of power, the robot will not have any problem cleaning on bare floors such as hardwood, linoleum, and tiles.

At the bottom of the robot are numerous rotating brushes to help it clean up carpeting. Specifically, the R75 has 2 side brushes and 1 primary roller brush positioned in the center. But although the set-up is truly impressive, the shark ion robot rv750 is only rated to work on low-pile carpets. Cleaning efficiency will noticeably drop on high-pile.

Battery Life

Battery life of the robot is universally regarded as good. The large 2,600 mAh Lithium-ion battery pack allows the robot to clean continuously for 1.5 hours. Shark ION robot R75 vacuum takes roughly 3 hours to recharge from empty back to 100%.

Navigation System

The robot has several proximity sensors that allow it to avoid obstacles and furniture on its way. It also has cliff-detecting sensors to protect it from falling off of cliffs or stairs. Together, they give the robot the ability to navigate the house with adequate accuracy. While it’s certainly not as good as premium robots with laser navigation, for the price, the Shark R75 isn’t all that bad.

It can connect to your home’s WiFi and be used in conjunction with a smartphone app. Through your phone, you can check up on the robot’s status, see important data, and so on.

Filtration

The Shark ION robot notably features a HEPA filtration system. Though it’s more expensive than conventional filters, these high-grade filters can cleanse the air from the most serious of threats like allergen, viruses, and bacteria.

According to Shark, the filter has to be changed once every 2 months. But since it’s washable, you can delay the replacement for up to 6 months.

Conclusion

All things considered, this shark ion robot r75 has solid value for the price. Relatively affordable, has great design, and decent performance, it would be a lovely robot vacuum to consider if you’re looking for a nice one on the cheap.

Could you post a video of it turning over slowly? If the cylinder has been juiced to 70cc, in theory it will be a bit more work to get it going, but I haven't seen much evidence of this in the kits I've seen - unless the battery is weak.

Have you tried the kickstarter? If it won't start with the kickstarter, the problem isn't the battery.

2006, When's the last time the CVT has been serviced? Sounds like the grease on your starter bendix is dried out.
