Modern Buddy

Can’t start by start switch. 2012 Buddy.
Symptoms;
Turn key on, gas level raises to level then falls off to zero.
Battery 12 volts before kick start, 16.67 after. So not alternator.
After kick starting, shut off & tried start button, heard a pop.

Have a 12 Volt regulator on hand, where is it located?
I have also ordered a CDI module.

Inspect battery cables. Clean terminals. Tighten connections. Try that before you order any more parts.

16V while running is crazy high and will blow out bulbs in minutes. When I had a reading like that it was because a ground wire had been disconnected from the frame. Check all your wires near and including the CDI.

I didn’t think cleaning terminals would clear it, but the terminals on the battery I purchased last month were black, so sanded them clean, will start now.
