Replaced TPS, but engine light still one

I replaced my TPS after I started losing power and the engine light came on with a code for a faulty TPS.
I swapped it out and reset the ECU, but the engine light still comes on once the engine in started and there is a slight hesitation when given throttle.
Did I do all the necessary steps or am I forgetting something?
