Is WOT fine for long rides?

Post by mike932 »

I want to do a long road trip for several days. I have a 170i. Can I ride full throttle for the whole trip? Or will that damage the engine?

If you push the engine too hard it will go into limp mode. Your engine light will come on, and your top speed will be reduced to 40 or so until the bike cools down. My Buddy did this a couple of times on a 95 degree day after 20 minutes on the freeway.

No. Both times it happened on mine, I pulled off shortly after the light came on and let it cool for 15 minutes. Scooter was fine. I don't know how much ground you plan on covering, but 50 with a little throttle to spare is the safe bet. It's 98 degrees where I'm at. My 170i doesn't care
much for the heat.

I use Rotella T6 in just about everything. Full synthetic, 5w40.
