Is there anyway to reposition the oil cooler to a position that will result in better protection from rocks? Thanks!

On which bike? Depending on how much ground clearance you want, you could probably make a shield out of sheet metal to sit just underneath the cooler. Protecting it from the front would stop the rocks, but also the airflow, so pros/cons obviously.
