Does anyone know what size bolts and spacers to use on a front rack for 2008 Buddy?
Bought a rack but no mounting kit.....

M8 bolts about 1.375 inches long.
Spacers are about .625 inches tall. You could probably use old Variator rollers.

M6 bolts.

Same thread as the big chrome screw you remove. Thought they were 8s.

It was a M6.

Does the plastic front fairing have to be drilled to mount the rack? If so, what's the best way to do the drilling? I recently purchased a '12 Buddy 170i and have been thinking about adding a folding front rack for mounting a small Prima roll bag.

Mine had knock outs on the plastic body in this area. ( Buddy 50)
Use a utility knife and a bic lighter, heat the blade and cut through the knock out tabs.
Receiving threads should be right behind this.

Sounds like an excellent way to do it but after a closer look at my '12 Buddy 170i's plastic front fairing, there are no such knockouts. Anyone have an idea how to mount the rack without knowing where the receiving threads are behind the fairing? TIA,

The knockouts were never quite lined up correctly anyway. I'd get some small machine head screws of the same thread. Screw them in the lower threaded holes leaving them out enough to touch the back of the front legshield. Coat the heads with some white paint, and install the front legshield. Pull the legshield and drill 3/16 holes through your marks. Re-install the legshield, and be sure the alignment is good. Then, drill out with a spade bit.
