Roughhouse 50 Sport Purchase

I originally posted under the heading of Yamaha 50 Zuma 2 T vs. Roughhouse 50 also 2 T.

I acted too late on a '13 used RH 50 here in Seattle and decided not to get too interested in a Zuma 50 as the seating didn't feel quite right. Over the weekend I managed to find, via CL, a new '15 Roughhouse Sport 50 being closed out by a Genuine dealer in Walla Walla, WA down in the south east corner of my state. The OTD price, including the optional rear rack which normally sells for $70, was $2211 so I went ahead and made the deal. I pick it up on Thursday.

The dealer tells me that it's been deristricted. With my 185 lb. weight and 5' 11" height, I'm hoping I can get it to 40 mph. Is this a reasonable expectation? Will break-in improve the top speed?

I've had two 50cc 2 T scooters, an Adly Jet 50 and a Honda Elite 50, in my lifetime where windshields gave me about a 2 mph boost in top speed. Do any of you RH 50 owners have a windshield and if so, have you experienced any sort of an improvement in speed? Btw, speed is not critical for me as posted speed limits where I'll be using the scoot are 40 mph with virtually no hills, all 2 lane rural, but I'm just curious to see if I could get a bit over 40 mph.

Well, that's about it. I'm looking forward to Joining the RH fraternity. If any of you RH owners would like to share your experiences with me and/or give me any riding tips, they would be most welcome. Thanks!

I've been told by a local that a derestricted RH hits 50-55mph. Don't know if that's wishful thinking or not!

Hand out on the RH forum and you'll get your answers soon enough!

Pics and ride report expected and would like to hear your experience of RH vs. Hooli.

And congrats on your new ride!

Congrats on your purchase. You got a good deal. I paid the same for mine OTD but it's not a sport model as I preferred the seat and mudguard on the regular.

My dealer redestricted mine, and after break in, I hit 50mph indicated easily. I am 235lbs on a good day.

Welcome to RH ownership. I love the ergos on this thing.

Check out the ride reports here -

I didn't know there was a RH forum. I found it and thanks! BTW, the speeds I was talking about were actual (GPS confirmed) and not indicated. If I get 45 mph actual I'll be delighted.
