Modern Buddy

OK, my Hoolie has just a bit over 1200 miles now. Today on my way home from work a couple times it almost sounded as if it were slightly backfiring on deceleration. Temp outside is about 90F and super humid. Oil was changed and scooter checked out at the dealer 500 miles ago. the little orange light came on at one point, and I shut it down, and looked for any visible problems, before refiring it up and heading off.The light didn't come back on after that for the last 5 miles of my ride. It is hard to tell if I was lacking much power as I was heading directly into the wind. First question, Any idea what might have caused this situation? And second question, How do I know when the lifters need adjusting? Ive heard of adjusting them, but I don't know what symptoms would be for that. Thanks.

Make sure there is no exhaust leak at the pipe to cylinder connection. That would cause it. Also, it could have activated the heat protection circuit. Check if that was the cool down light that came on. If so, that adds fuel and would have caused the popping.

Minor issue, nothing is going to break, but nice to know what it was. Were you WOT at the time the light came on?

Thanks Viney. I will check the exhaust tomorrow. The manual is very vague, and I didn't see any mention of a cool down light. I was near full throttle for a large portion of the ride , and close to WOT when the light came on. After I restarted it, I was cautious and maybe took it up to 3/4 throttle.

With the heat, humidity and full throttle it likely got hotter than the computer liked. If the light went off, I wouldn't worry too much. Check and top-off your oil if necessary.

Ok, I checked the exhaust connection, and everything is hunky dorey. Checked my oil, and it is still fine. Again, its almost 90F out, so I started it up, and it seemed to be fine thankfully. I took it for a 8 mile lap around my "block" at varying speeds from slow to WOT and everything seems fine, so hopefully that light that came on was just a warning light telling me to take it easy. I wish the manual covered that some, but I guess I should just be thankful someone tried to translate it into English before printing. Thanks for the help Viney and Dasscooter!

The orange light is to tell you it's time to change the oil. The counter is supposed to be reset when the oil is changed. If the light came on and went out, I wouldn't worry about it.
