Buddy Kick - California EPA issues

Hi everyone! I'm new to the scooter world and now I'm hooked. I just got my first scooter 6 weeks ago and I'm already looking into buying a new one.

The Buddy Kick caught my eye. I was at the San Francisco Scooter Centre, getting some TLC for Jacques (that's my Honda Metro's name). The Centre is also an authorized Buddy dealer. I asked the manager if they have the Buddy Kick in stock. He said that it failed California EPA standards and won't be released until next year.

Has anyone heard this? I really like the look of the Kick. There are way too many Buddy 125's in SF and I'd like to be different but still classy. I'm hoping the Kick is approved next year. For now, that just gives me time to save up for it. $$$

It should be, Cali. is WAY more strict than anywhere else. They may need to add catch cans or a vapor collector that no where else needs. But, Cali. is a big market, so I am sure it will happen.

Cali. is a P.I.T.A. when it comes to emissions. A small scoot getting 90 MPG? really guys?
