Has anyone made the trek from Salem to Portland on a Buddy 125 or smaller and can you share your route? I am considering making the trip to Portland next week on my scooter but of course can't take the freeway due to the speeds. I'm not as familiar with back roads in the area yet as we are new to Oregon.
I need to get to Providence Medical Center (which is up near Laurelhurst Park area) and then over to the airport from there.
Any advice and route help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I've done long road trips before. Plan your route to go from gas station to gas station to gas station so you never run out of gas. Put a backpack on your handebars and use a caribeaner to hook your GPS to your backpack. If your scooter does not have a cigarette charger, it is very easy to rig one. Wear an orange or yellow-green sweatshirt so cars can see you easily. Get scooter insurance with towing insurance in case you break down. Progressive insurance offers this. Put emergency contact info in your bag in case you end up in a hospital.
EDIT: Your route is only 51 miles, so just fill your tank before leaving. Use GPS with bicycle option or avoid highways option like this.....

Use an application (Google Maps, MapQuest) with a bicycle route icon and try that route. It works for me.

There are several routes. Probably the most direct is Highway 99E through Woodburn and Oregon City.

HA! wrong side of the country! I was thinking the route was Portland, ME to Salem, MA. In that case, a broom would be most excellent.
