Modern Buddy

The brake lights on my Buddy are always on. Aside from tracing every line, what are some simpler options I can attempt to try and isolate where the problem is coming from.

Some background- it sat for quite some time (measured in months) and was not doing this before storage.

The two "Safety Switches" are wired together in parallel so either one will juice the brake light if they are operated. What I can't remember is how they are physically wired into the circuit. Specifically, I can't remember how those wires are connected to common connection point that I've circled in the schematic bellow If the light is stuck on then one or both of the switches must be shorted or somehow glued shut. To figure out which one (or both) is bad, you need to somehow be able to disconnect the switches one at a time. I don't see a connector indicated on the schematic, just that common connection point which I don't remember what it is. I'm pretty sure that's a removable connector of some kind, I just don't remember exactly what it is. What you need to do is slueth around a little and figure out how to disconnet the switches one at a time. FYI, the color codes on the wires are O = Orange and Lb = Light Blue. Once you figure out which one is the culprit, here are the part numbers: Left-Hand Brake Switch Comp - C2548220000, Right-Hand Brake Switch Comp - P140C180000.

if the wires seem to be ok, maybe one of the switches is 'stuck' in

see if you can tap on the brake lever to get the switch un-stuck or something

Or more than 'tap' - PUSH the brake levers open (one at a time) while watching your brake light reflection. This happened to our daughters scoot a few years back - simple fix once we figured out the cause. We replaced the bent lever. All good!
