Help! How to turn buddy 50 on when turned to handlebar lock?

This may be an amateur question, but I just bought a 2014 buddy 50 2 weeks ago so I'm still learning.

Anyway, I turned my handlebar all the way to the left and then turned the key to "lock" so that the handlebars are locked. I accidentally did this about a week ago and was able to turn the scooter to ignition afterwards, but now, my key just won't move to the right if I try to turn it on. The only thing it seems to let me do is to open the trunk.

I tried moving my handlebars to the right but the key still won't budge. Any tips?

Put the key in the ignition and slowly rock the handlebars back and forth while turning the key clockwise (toward the ON position) with a bit of pressure. The lock should release with a little coaxing.

Once the lock releases, you should consider taking it to the dealer to have them inspect the locking mechanism before using it again.
