Buddy in Manhattan ... Worth it?

Hi all -
I've been a Buddy 125 owner for three years in Miami Beach. I know beach towns like Miami Beach are often the best when it's comes to riding scooters.

My work is taking me to New York City, and I am wondering about owning and operating my Buddy in lower Manhattan. I've been reading up on what is required to own and ride a 125cc scooter in NYC, and it sounds like a pain. All the security issues, parking woes, etc.

Any riders here own scooters in Manhattan? Is it worth it?
Thanks for the tips and advice.[/img]

Go over to ModernVespa.com and ask the question. There are several people from that area on that forum.

I have no first hand experience in Manhattan, but I have lived and worked in congested urban areas. I would think you may be better served by a standup electric scooter that can be stored in your apartment, taken with you on the train or in a cab, etc. Just a thought.

Good insight.

I grew up in NYC many, many years ago and rode motorcycles in Manhattan. The big problem used to be theft. I don't know how the parking laws have changed but it used to be easy to get a parking space if you didn't mind a little bruising to the bike.

A Buddy would probably be at home if you have the parking and security issues solved.
