How do you get to the carburetor float bowl drain screw?

Post by tedsesr »

I've practically removed the entire rear shell of my Buddy 150 to include the seat and cannot access the float bowl drain screw. There has to be an easier way?

You need a really long screwdriver and you can get an angle on it.
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

Like the previous post-- You need a long screw and need to come at it at an angle from outside of the plastic pieces. It may help to loosen the two clamps that hold the carburetor in place so you can rotate the carb down a little so you have a better angle.

Easiest way is pull the seat bucket, loosen the 2 clamps holding the carb, Twist the carb and use a shorter screwdriver to loosen. Takes about 3 minutes or less.
161cc big bore kit, NCY big valve head Hand ported, NCY transmission kit, jetted and tuned. I can port your cylinder head.

What about using an offset screwdriver with a long enough blade?

Also something like a small ratchet screwdriver might work too with an extension.

Loosening the two clamps holding the carb and turning it to access the drain screw is spot on. Easy.

It's late in the month, so I'm going to nominate this for post of the month. It sounds so easy, but I guarantee you I'd have gotten in there and torn my hands up without thinking to do that. As you say, Easy! Thanks for posting this and any other hints you have even if they seem obvious to you, because they're not obvious to me and I'm certain I'm not the only one.

No problem! I maintain a fleet of 7 Buddy rentals on-top of the bikes that come through the service department. New Orleans has a whole lotta Buddies.
