Genuine Buddy 150 Warranty for 1 year or 5,000 miles What?
I just recently purchased a 2009 Buddy International 150cc. The lady before me purchased the scooter new on Feb. 6, 2013. She gave me the original copy of the warranty. The warranty says it is good for 1-year or 5,000 miles whatever comes first. I know the warranty is not transferable ( I can't use it) but I always thought that Genuine warranties were for 2-years and unlimited mileage. Has the dealership done something shady here? Or is this common when purchasing a 2009 model scooter in 2013?

The dealership messed up and gave the original owner a copy of the Stella warranty for the Buddy she purchased. After purchasing the Buddy from the original owner, I was reviewing the documentation and caught the mistake. I have emailed the dealership and waiting a response.
Although I am not the original owner, the original owner would have had any problems fixed with the warranty before I purchased the scooter if she had known the scooter was still under warranty. I will update the issue once I hear from the dealership.

You are probably making too much of this. That piece of paper was not what determined the warranty on the scooter. Indeed, the warranty would be the same with no piece of paper. Both Genuine and the dealer obviously knew the actual warranty on the bike. There is a form within the owners manual which is validated by the dealer and submitted to Genuine when a bike is sold. It may be, of course, that a misunderstanding on the part of the owner would have lead to failure to raise a question of a warranty claim at some point - though I never had any warranty work done on my Buddy during the first two years of ownership.Kevinpsu160 wrote:Although I am not the original owner, the original owner would have had any problems fixed with the warranty before I purchased the scooter if she had known the scooter was still under warranty.
