Hooligan Exhaust Noise

Post by Elder Scoot »

My Hooligan makes an odd exhaust noise when putting on some load. It sounds like a loud burbling noise - a little like pre-ignition - though it's not pre-ignition. I've literally shot my hearing to death from bikes and other loud noise fun over many years - so diagnosis is harder for me. I've heard the same sound coming from another new Hooligan - so I'm thinking it's a noise peculiar to the bike. I'm thinking it may have to do with exhaust gases moving from the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipe. The bike is running wonderfully and I don't view this as a problem - just another PTW mystery. Any thoughts?

Thanks. I guess it's just the design of the exhaust system.

My BMW 650 engine is really noisy - in fact even more so than an old Harley shovel-head I once owned. It took a while to get used to.
