It's nice to see they are protecting their child from air pollution.

There was a knucklehead talking on the phone in my neighborhood, WOT one-handed on a cheapo 49cc, but with no helmet and wearing shorts and flip-flops.

I'm not surprised. Then again, scooters are the majority in SE Asia. I'm sure they think we're nuts for the size of cars we jockey around in the states. It's a whole different way of life across the pond, on either side.

LOADS of scooters and small bikes in central Rome. In another life I was a choir director, and I had my group in Rome at the end of the trip. The day after we sing in St. Peter's, my wife and I almost get run down by the Monsignore who was Director of Music at the Basilica.

A few years back, going to a photo shoot in Green River, on I-80 through Wyoming, I watched another driver, who was all over the road and whose speed fluctuated between 50 and 90, reading a paperback that he had propped on his steering wheel. That was entertaining and helped fight off drowsiness - he provided quite a few adrenaline rushes along the way...

I think that if you get caught with distracted driving, you should get the same punishment as a DUI

Different worlds. Most of those pics are from Asia, where the family transportation is a scooter, so most people around you are on scooters. You rarely see that with scooter or MC riders here in the states, because they know that if they take their eyes off the road, someone in a car that is talking or texting will kill them.

I've seen a guy with no helmet and wearing flip-flops, holding the cell in his right hand and throttling with the left. In rush-hour traffic, nonetheless. Craziness.
