Also there is a covered Stella, a Green Buddy and a pepper white Mini Clubman close by at the same house. I would love to know who you guys are! We have a Clubbie and 2 Buddies ourselves. We drive by them every Sat. Morning.
No power in the 'verse can stop me.

San Diego. yesterday at about 515 PM a previously spotted tangerine orange buddy on University in Hillcrest, @ 3rd Av. Today, an Italia on Upas at about 520 PM-we nodded to one another (thanks! ). 3 minutes later a Black Buddy heading north on Park blvd. Female rider snubbed me. I am may take a break from this thread b/c no one spots me here (lol) and the Buddy (and other) riders I wave or nod to, do not return the love. They either look away or give the disdainful "do I know you?" look.

that's a bummer. I don't know any other scooter community but i find SD scooterists to be mostly friendly. I suspect they are new riders too afraid to take their hand off the bar. That's what I tell myself anyways.peabody99 wrote:San Diego. yesterday at about 515 PM a previously spotted tangerine orange buddy on University in Hillcrest, @ 3rd Av. This morning: Red 125 on Riverside Blvd. at Laurel Cyn., which seems to be a major Buddy thoroughfare. Rider with red/white Nolan N30 helmet.

Was at a stoplight today and a scooter (a white fiddle i think) pulled up next to me. I looked over and this gentleman had to have been about 85 years old. He smiled, winked and said "great day for a ride", then pulled away. It made me smile laugh out loud! I hope I'm still scooting at his age! Rock on gramps!

And tons of Buddies at The Good, the Bad, and the Rally this weekend in Austin, of course.

well I have not offically met jijifer (I usually find out we were at the same event after the fact and sice I am bad at recognizing people from avitars, I have not put one and one together), but I think her scoot has bird stickers and this scoot had other stickers.Skootz Kabootz wrote:Sounds like Jijifer.peabody99 wrote:a light blue buddy with cool stickers and stereo (!). Yup, she has bird stickers and one on the side of the legshield that says "Zombie Outbreak Response Vehicle." Also, I don't think her speakers are hooked up anymore.peabody99 wrote:well I have not offically met jijifer (I usually find out we were at the same event after the fact and sice I am bad at recognizing people from avitars, I have not put one and one together), but I think her scoot has bird stickers and this scoot had other stickers.Skootz Kabootz wrote:Sounds like Jijifer.peabody99 wrote:a light blue buddy with cool stickers and stereo (!). This morning, around 9am on Ventura/Cahuenga from Studio City to Hollywood, my first "in the wild" sighting of a silver Buddy 170i. Woman riding, purple helmet. Nice lookin' scooter!

might be a S.Cal thing. Very rare to get a return wave, rarer still to get an initial. Much to my delight a vespa p200 gave me a solid INITIAL wave the other day. MC's wave more than scooters. Having been here close to a year, my wave /nod behavior will soon become extinct. I mean seriously if you never get anything in return at some point you gotta hang it up. That Pavlov guy was on to something.Southerner wrote:Don't take offense. Or maybe they were just nervous about the traffic.

Heck, in traffic, I don't even wave or nod to every scooter I see. I will to some, and I'll try to return them, but I'd be riding around one-handed all day if I waved at everyone. I'm far less likely to on the Stella, when I need a hand to shift.pneu125 wrote:Blackjack headed east on Venice Blvd at light on Beethoven. Couldn't even get him to give me a head nod.

Re: socal and waves
I used to always wave or nod (majority was nod) to scooters on my Metro. For over two and a half years, I got very, very few responses. Most people looked at me like I was just weird.
By UCLA there are TONS of scooterists...the bulk are kids who bought one cheap and know absolutely zilch about any customs or traditions, much less rules of the road (I see a lot of people on 125s use the bike line and think they're lane splitting/filtering). They also cut each other off all the time, and give scooterists a bad rep in the Westwood area.
Now on my Blur, still nothing from those scooterists. Pretty rare to get one a bit further south. But I get excited like a lil' girl when big bikers started giving me the wave!!!! I think from a distance the Blur looks more motorcyclely. I had one guy try to take it back as I got closer, but for the most part I'm getting some waves and a whole lot of nods from the motorcycles.
The hilarious part is some of the riders I see on my commute used to snub me on the Metro. After so long, it feels nice to be acknowledged. I guess the new jacket and being on a new scooter means they have no idea I'm the Metro they used to always roll their eyes at.
Anyways, don't give up hope. Keep nodding til your neck hurts!

I was on my way into Decatur yesterday around 4:15 when someone on a scooter gave me a wave and woop. Due to a lot of traffic, I didn't get a chance to see if it was another Buddy. I did the wave, but with my shield down they wouldn't have heard me anyway.
After 3 weeks and 260 miles on my Italia, I feel more secure taking a hand off the bars to show some love...

San Diego. I have seen more than I can keep track off. On 6th av Bankers Hill a Silver 170. Looks awesome in "person"! 3 minutes later an Italia and Black Jack parked in scooter parking on 6th Av downtown. Then there is the Cream and the Italia often parked out in front of the law school (Calif Western?) on Cedar. Probably the coolest scooter sighting was a group ride pack of lil honda ruckas' all tricked out riding downtown today at about 5pm.
