Finally got a tach hooked up.
It seems the out of the box variator tuning of the Malossi “multivar” holds the engine at 7800 to 8200rpm. Going 45mph has the motor at around 8900rpm. What is the rev limit on this? Or does it have one?

Re: Finally got a tach hooked up.
Some users here who have written threads on their tuning have reported engine speeds approaching 11K RPM. At those speeds, it looks like the failure mode is on the flywheel side.
Below that engine speed, I'd check the documentation on your Malossi kit. I'm aware of Airsal's T7 70cc alu kit having a 9K rev limit. Spinning that lot faster than 9K leads to piston failure after a couple hundred miles. I suspect the Malossi is more robust, but it's worth a luck.

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

On Malossi’s website it lists max power at 8500 for the iron 70cc kit.

With my Sport exhaust and stock carb maybe a little lower

Carb will hold back the top end power a little, bit not prevent revs. My buddy's '05 Zuma could hit 10K with a Yasuni Z pipe and the stock 14mm Teikei.
The pipe will be the greater limiting factor.

Re: Finally got a tach hooked up.
It’s gearing and rpm limited to 45mph currently. It has the stock crank so, that probably good it doesn’t go any higher than 9k. I thought buddy 50s had a rev limiter but I guess not.
