buddy 50 motor type

Post by Meis »

Call me stupid but I am confused... I thought my 2007 buddy 50 had the horizontal minerelli 1PE40QMB motor but I was looking to replace my coil and CDI with hotter aftermarket units and when I looked at my coil it does not look like those pictured for the minerelli motors, rather it looks lile the single bolt type that is common on the GY6 motors so this begs the question;

Does my little buddy have the minerelli motor or the GY6? Is there an easy way to check?

I apologize for the newbie question but I just want to verify my engine type

Minarelli. I'll save you from wasting your money - replacing Taiwanese electrical components with bottom of the barrel Chinese "HIGH PERFORMANCE" parts won't make any difference

Thank you. I kinda figured that. You get what you pay for. I was looking at the NCY coil and going with an iridium plug. If I remember correctly the buddy 50 CDI is already unrestricted but I'd like to do whatever I can to get the best spark possible
