Gorilla Alarm not Sounding Loud anymore

Post by Godio13 »

So this morning I walked outside to discover my scooter kicked over. No surprise, it's Boston and for some reason people just hate scooters. It was definitely forcefully kicked because of the awkward position that it landed.

Anyway, I went to turn it on and it would not turn over, obviously because the gas probably needs to settle. However, my gorilla installed alarm sounds, but now barely louder than my iPhone ring. Before this happened it was LOUD. Any thoughts? Maybe the battery/connection? It's dark out and I can't start playing around with it tonight because of a new born next door, so I figured I'd get some ideas before I look into it more.

I am not at all mechanically handy so English would be awesome :)

Aw man, while we wait for one of our mechanics to show up, let me say how sorry I am that somebody knocked your scooter over. That just plain sucks. I hope it never happens again.

So, what I'm expecting to hear from the experts is that, if your scooter lay on its side while the alarm screamed for a while, that probably ran your battery down. A recharge may bring it back to life depending on how badly drained it was and what state the battery was in to begin with.

Another thing I'm expecting to hear from the mechanics is that gasoline may have leaked into your air filter box via the EPA-mandated anti-pollution plumbing, which is not well-designed for a tipover. If gas soaks the air filter, the bike can't breathe and it won't run at all. You may well have to open the airbox and service the filter, clean out the airbox itself, and maybe even drain the anti-pollution plumbing.

It's really common when a Buddy tips over, for the plastic ring around the headlight to get broken. Mirrors and hand levers are popular replacement items, too. I hope all of these are okay on your scooter. Fortunately, none of these items are expensive.

Again, I'm sorry this happened. I hope you are happily scooting around Beantown again very soon.
