Torque Spec for Valve Adjust?

Post by New2Scoots »

I'll be checking my valve clearance next free weekend & if I need to make adjustments is there a torque spec for those nuts? Found 2 good "how to" videos but I'm wondering how tight for those nuts.

I don't think there's a torque spec for those. I've never had one loosen on me.
Some people can break a crowbar in a sandbox.

Feel thing. If the feeler scrapes gently.......I have done it 5 or so times.
PGO makes great scooters. That is all.

The Buddy manual doesn't have a torque value. Even if it did it would be tough to get a torque wrench on the nut while holding the adjustment screw.

I use a short handle box or combination wrench for this. I tighten it down snug but do not crank on it. With a short handled wrench I think you would really have to crank on that wrench to over torque it. Don't forget to recheck the clearance after tightening as the adjustment screw may turn a hair as you are tightening the nut.

Most important this is to do this on a cold engine.

There isn't a specific value for the valve adjustment nuts, but there is this table for bolt/nut sizes:
