Stella Auto LED upgrade

Post by Rune »

Since the other thread was so old and there are better components available now, I'm making a new thread...

2x white bulbs for the tail / brake light:
OSRAM 5007 and 5008 compatible

4x amber lights for the signals:
OSRAM 7507 compatible

1x Relay box for LED and incandescent lights:
Orion LED Flasher Relay (Cross Reference: CF12ANL-01)

What's your reasoning behind red bulbs? The lens is already red. I'm going for brighter - which the white LED bulbs are... Not to mention that some states require white bulbs.

From their real world testing, there's no reason for red on red.
Note that we have found that the white or "Super White" LED brake lights usually work best with the red tail light lens. There's no need for red LEDs and, in fact, they usually do not put out the same light levels as the white LEDs.

Attached images, please log in.

Here are two pics of the taillamp on my 2013 Yager GT200i. Red Samsung LED tower topped with a RED Cree Q5 behind a projector lens. The taillamp lens itself is red. Yes, it is very bright and very noticeable, especially when the brake is applied. No fricken' laser beams; my phone camera added the ludicrous speed lines. It does throw some cool prismatic light whiskers onto nearby objects, though.

I had two bulbs, so I put the other on in the tractor taillight of my P200E. Taillight looks like an afterburner at night now. Didn't add any extra speed, though.

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Where did you get the bulb that you put in the P200?

Jim,

I picked it up from an e-bay seller named dt-autotech. Here's the current link to the auction:

We know eBay to be a fickle thing, so aside from the sellers name, here are the keywords to help find the part should the link expire:

1157 High Power 5630 Chip+Cree LED Red
