Fastest accelerating scooter? (maybe NBR)

Post by walke2jd »

So, I know this is a bit of a vague question, but ignoring cc's, top speed, etc, which scooter has the best acceleration that you have tried.

The Buddy is pretty quick off the line, but my old BV500 was quicker (although its a bit unfair with the extra 375cc's...).

Does anything scream off the line in its stock configuration?

I've heard stories about the Italjet Dragster that sounded almost unbelievable. Never tried one, but I'd like to.

But for me the quickest was my SYM HD200. Topped out at 65, but stoplight to 55 was awfully quick.

0-30 with mods not much keeps up under 250cc in the scooter world. I have $700 in engine and trans mods.

Are you sure that is actually true? A heavy bike like the BV500 has a bit of trouble first getting moving off the line. Same reason a scooter can usually beat a Harley away from a light.

Well, I don't have any timed runs or anything, but the BV seemed to get off the line as quick as the buddy but then just kept accelerating strong to 50 or 60 before it finally slowed down a bit.

I've ridden a Buddy 125 after selling my Honda CH150. It just didn't compare. So I went and bought another Honda CH150. Those motors are sick!

This part makes sense to me, but my guess would be that the Buddy would be quicker 0 to 20 or 0 to 30. Weight is a big issue in the first few seconds of acceleration.

When I went from my Buddy 150 to my GTS 300 I was suprised by the acceleration jump. I even felt like I have a pretty quick scooter till I took off next to the aforementioned Dragster 180. That thing ran off and left me. I think the dragster could burn alot of motorcycles to 45mph.

slapped some sliders into the beo (same engine as the bv500) and it's pretty snappy. Leaves the cars way behind.

Really it's about relative weight. if you weigh little, you'll take off faster. otherwise it slows you down. nearly any 125cc + scooter should get off the line faster than a normal car, unless the person floors it. If you want dragster performance, you need a 1000cc sport bike :P.

Of all the scooters I've owned (and it's a long list) the best off the line is my totally stock GB 170i.

Rode a stock 125 today. Not impressed. My modded 161cc is pretty quick.
