Full face helmets that fit under the Buddy seat

Post by Danielm »

I found this thread
viewtopic.php?t=52
but since it is from 2006 a number of the suggested models aren't available anymore so I figured I'd start an updated thread seeing what people are using for full face helmets that fit under the Buddy?
Thanks.

What? I have one in small and it does not fit all! And my underseat area is pretty stark...maybe a pen, insurance, registration, tire pressure thingie and possible a wine bottle opener (you know, the necessities). Photo please

The only helmet I've had fit in any scoot is a brain bucket. But I have a bowling ball for a head.

As I'm about to directly contradict the subject, I hope I'm not being UNhelpful, but... why? If you use the helmet pegs, you get to save the pet carrier for tools/first aid kit/poncho/kittens.

I don't say this to be a butthead, just know the pegs are easy to miss.

If you still want an underseat ff I have the very basic hjc (the one that's always 80-100 online) in medium and I *think * I remember it fitting. I don't mind checking if you're especially interested. :-)

Edit for PS: note I have a 50. Not sure if our carriers have any volume differences.

You're right. The helmet hooks are secure and easy to use. But if my helmet would fit under my seat I would put it there every time. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.

Syd, That was my thought process as well. Like I can put it on the hook, and I don't live in a bad area or anything but anything I can do to give people one less reason to go play with my scooter would be helpful.

I wear a large helmet, it's new and I'm not super pleased with the fit overall so I thought if I was going to exchange it I might try to aim for something that fits under the seat. I bought the helmet online and the dealer is far away so instead of going there and asking to bring 40 helmets outside to try to jam into my scooter I hoped someone had a good suggestion on what might fit a large full face.

I have a Scorpion EXO-700 in a size Large and it fits. Also, its a fantastic helmet at a great price. I got mine in the Hi-viz yellow and have been very pleased with its performance over the last year or so.

My Bell Vortex in large just fits under the seat with nothing in the pet carrier. I need to force the last inch or so to get it closed.

Yikes....Does that compromise the helmet integrity....I kinda want my helmet in perfect shape, just in case.

Not to be curmudgeonly, but I'd buy a helmet that fit my head and was rated well to provide protection. Whether it fit inside the pet carrier would be way, way down the list of criteria.

That said, I have a 3/4 Bell Custom 500 as a second helmet, and one day I rode, parked, and hung it on the hook (my pet carrier is always loaded with tools and safety items. Some kind child-of-God knocked over the scoot as I'm sure he thought it was an empty parking space. Helmet kept the cowl bars from getting scratched by taking the fall. Grr. Cost me a helmet, as the exterior was pretty gouged. Now I always take the helmets indoors with me.

I would have to disagree. For me, fitting in the pet carrier was number 2 on my list, second only to fit. I think it is safe to assume that out of all the models of helmet that fit in the carrier, one of them will fit your head well.

Not needing to worry about carrying around my helmet or what someone will do to it while hanging on the side of the scooter was one of the biggest draws for me to the Buddy.

I like keeping mine in the carrier......especially if I'm somewhere and it starts raining.....nothing like putting on a soaked helmet.......but now I have a trunk so I got room for everything....
