Had my Buddy worked on the other day because of electrical problems.I did not get to talk to anyone at the shop because I had a friend drop off the check and I picked up scooter after hours.
What is a "rectifier" and what does it do? What could cause it to go bad?

It switches the AC power generated by the Stator to DC power. Overheating or bad solder is usually to blame for a failure.
