$700 Buddy

Post by sherides »

I wonder what the rest of the story is... not to mention that the poster doesn't seem to be able to read an odometer.

Wow, if it really runs and the frames not bent that's an outstanding deal! Les than 500 miles?! You gotta be kidding me. Can't tell if it's a 50 or 125 tho.

I especially like this part:
...its salvage title because its missing a front plastic cover...

Yeah, I had the same thing happen with my car. Somebody removed the hood and the insurance company called it a total loss. :D

Looks like the front fender and center stand are missing. I suspect a crashed Buddy. Watch out for bent forks.
The scenery only changes for the lead scooterist.

The guy probably bought it from an insurance auction and knows nothing about scooters.

It's 125cc, has less than 500 miles, looks fine to me from pictures, the only bad looking thing is the front cover was probably destroyed. The rest of the bike is probably also scratchy here and there on every panel.

Scratches can be covered... trust me, I've wrecked 3 times... it's 700 bucks.

It has a salvaged title. You don't get a salvaged title on a vehicle just because the front plastics are missing.

This comes from the CA DMV site:
Definition of a salvage vehicle.

A salvage vehicle is a vehicle that has been wrecked, destroyed, or damaged to such extent that the insurance company considers it uneconomical to make repairs to the vehicle and the vehicle is not repaired by or for the person who owned the vehicle when the damage occurred.

The California title will contain a notation identifying this vehicle as a salvage vehicle.
Just be careful.

I couldn't tell if it was a 125 from the photos before I posted, so I sent a quick e-mail asking if it was a 50 or 125. The response I got was "What?"

I'm leery because of the salvage title. There has to be more damage here
than meets the eye.
A friend suggested it might be an idea to buy it for spare parts. Does that make any sense?

If it even starts, its worth that for the motor.
