No don't do it. It has to be scooter specific.

Can you be more specific? This oil exceeds JASO and ISO EGD

2t oil

Post by Mikestib1 »

Make sure it is full synthetic and designed for oil injection. I should have both api TC and JASO FC rating. I use Ansoil Interceptor 2 cycle oil. You can find local distributors or buy on line. Paid $7.95 a qt.
Quicksilver is for Watercooled outboards that are 2 cycle. Your scooter, much like a chainsaw is usually operating at high rpm and requires better oil

Use Yamalube 2 stroke oil. One of the little pictures on the front is a Zuma scooter. Easy to find, not overpriced and is safe for oil injection systems. I have used it on everything from stock to modded scooters and have never had a problem.

Good stuff. It keeps the piston, cylinder and exhaust pretty clean.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...

outboard oil = no ash

Post by Argee »

The very specific issue with outboard oil is that there is no ash in it. This is a term that describes the zinc content, that would be bad to pump into the lake but helps lubricate your cylinder walls. With the constantly cool water flowing through the outboard engine, and the generally lower rpm at WOT, there is little concern over pistons growing so large from heating up that the oil film would be squeezed out. Not so with air-cooled engines, and the scooter thermal operating profile absolutely demands some zinc in there once you heat up.
