What's your favorite accessory?

Post by bigmike7801 »

It doesn't have to be an accessory made specifically for your scooter. Maybe it's a universal accessory.

Share pics too!

I think it's a tie between my Buddy's windshield (the Metro's windshield is so short all the wind hits me in the face... ) and my scooter kilt. :D

Wow that seat sounds nice. What about when it rains? Do you go sans cover or just dry it out later?

I carry a plastic trash bag under my seat in case of rain. Being natural sheepskin the rain doesn't do to much to it.

I removed the ridge in the seat, inerted the .625" gel pad, and re-stretched the stock vinyl. My wife made the cover out of an old car sheepskin.

Good gloves. I rode with Ace® garden gloves for years, but just bought a pair of Aerostich elk skin ropers and could not be more satisfied.

My first response was gloves. I hate cold hands, but as a rider you better get used to that shit. I have a pair of FIRSTGEAR gauntlets that cost me $50.

This is the pair I am saving for. http://voltheat.com/product/frostie-7v- ... ed-gloves/

Yup, had them out last weekend. It's a modified version of the Ole cape. They added a couple small things and then split them down the center and added snaps so it's an apron or chaps. I have a symba and a stella, and it works great for both

Anything that lets me ride further/longer.

It used to be I'd say my Cupholder.

These days it's my Camelback.

I'm also really fond of the Bluetooth module in my helmet so I can listen to music when riding.

Oh, And Sheepskin or my err wossname, thingy.. the waffle like seat cushion that you blow into.. Arg whatever it's called!

Does a Sena SMH 10 count? Being able to talk to my girlfriend when we take long rides helps with fatigue. Even around town and in group rides its fun to crack jokes and be able to alert other riders in the group of potential hazards with greater accuracy than with hand/foot signals. Also listening to some tunes and getting calls/gps directions is great.

My top case. It allows me to stow things that might otherwise mysteriously disappear when the bike is unattended and it also gives the bike extra utility value.

looking back...

Rattler 110cc - rear rack & topcase
first Buddy 125 - rear rack & topcase...later a milk crate (topcase flew off after hitting a bad dip in the road and smashed on the road...the locking latch that attached the case to the mounting plate gave out)
Stella 2t - rear rack & milk crate
2nd Buddy 125 - rear rack & milk crate

variety of motorcycles - saddlebag supports & saddlebags

I always lean toward practiczlity & function over fad...always need storage space!
did anyone get the license plate number of the bus that just hit me?!?

My fave accessory

Post by Tam Tam »

Lol, mine was having a floorboard. The blackjack had front n rear racks and the Stella had a rear rack, but damn do I miss putting stuff on the floor board for transport. A full duffel bag, an ottoman, a four foot tall electric light chery blossom tree...that was a great way to move stuff...curse my beautiful shadow and its lack of cargo ability!

I have to agree that my favorite accessory is/are my LED running lights.
(I bought an adapter from Jay/thatvwbusguy)

It amazing how much of a difference displaying that geometry (headlight and two running lights below) makes. It makes the scooter immediately stand out from the rest of the traffic and identifies you as a vehicle to pay attention to. In comparison, a lone headlight is not particularly noticeable.

Perfect for a case(yes, 24) of beer and two bags of groceries. That leaves room in the pet carrier for more and a bag of bread on the handlebar. I have had more than one person watch me pack $150 worth of groceries on my scoot. :)

Lol - As have I, more than once. The best time I remember was a guy waiting in a fancy hummer out in front of the big grocery store. He had an ill concealed smirk when I began the cargo net/ bungee strapping/ritual. By the end as I put on mah helmet and scooted away, his smirk had changed from one of smug superiority ( "look at me in my technological marvel of an suv with almost too much carrying space") to a frown of disappoint, maybe because I really could load 150 bucks of grub on the blackjack, and briskly scoot away, using less gas for my round trip than it must take him to get outta the driveway...or maybe he just gas,'the frowny face kind'.

Well if lights can be...

Mine has got to be the deadlights converted to Cool White LED running lights 1156 LED Bulb - 18 SMD LED Tower from https://www.superbrightleds.com (Part Number: 1156-CW18-T)

Used with the new plug and play adapter found here topic28530.html

Absolutely fantastic white light. Really enhances your ride for the rider and being seen. This will be a standard on all our Buddy's!

I love my LED running lights too. They make me feel safer and look pretty darn cool too, if I do say so myself (and I do!).

I also really like my blackout kit. Another cosmetic thing, but it helps my scoot stand out a bit from the others.

As far as functionality in an accessory, I gotta admit I love my case. Being able to store more groceries/gear/stuff is great. Oh, and my Corazzo rain suit. Just got one after years of dealing with rain in just a rain jacket and bringing a spare pair of pants with me whenever it rained. Totally worth the $$ in my opinion if you ever ride in the rain. Love that it's a set with pants and they go over your normal clothes so easily.

Dag nabbit, but that is a super bad assed looking scooter! The fluid combination of hard & smooth lines is awesome - not too angular, not too flowy, just the perfect meld.
Now, if it were me, man I'd have LED'd the heck out of it - running lights, under lights, engine/cvt trans lights...and do them all in a cool blue-ish white or Tron-esque green...and put some led spotlights on the front, too. Not to butt in, but when I see that scoot, I start the whole "ooooh if that was mine"'day dreaming.
