My battery has been crapping out for awhile so I have to kick start it all the time now ....... I thought I would just wait till next year to get a new one. I "assumed" that the the scooter running would produce enough power to run the lights/blinkers/horn and brake light . Apparently I am mistaken. When I rode tonight headlight / running lights and "dash" light were pretty dim. Blinkers / brake light / horn did not work at all
So would the battery being bad cause this or is there another issue going on?
Did I "assume" wrong?

In fact, the bum battery is probably representing a load you'd rather not have on the charging system. But, I don't know the ramifications of just disconnecting the battery... (perhaps that load is necessary to keep the charging system's voltage in check...?)

The battery does act as a buffer for the electrical system, kind of like a capacitor. As long as you still have your regulator installed you shouldn't fry anything, any voltage spikes will just get grounded to the frame. Ran across all of this information when atttempting to get a HID setup to work on my 2 stroke Rattler. Ended up just going with a PIAA HS1
