Hi all,

Finally did the swap today. Petrified to tackle the electrical piece of this but right now have a mechanical issue.

Mechanically the engine went in fine. Problem is there is interference between the carb box and the frame. Its not touching but it is impossible to get the carb box cover on the carb box and there is no weight on the rear wheel yet. The shock seems to have an extension on it already. It measures around 13" with approx a 2" extension. Is it the wrong shock.

Any help appreciated.

Wasn't the VBB an 8" wheel bike? So upgrading to 10" should theoretically need a longer shock (or some combination of the shock and remounting) to lengthen it. Was it already upgraded to 10's when you got it?

You might look over on ModernVespa.com in the Not-So-Modern section - I think I've seen conversion notes over there.

Closing the loop on this

The solution was actually a shorter shock. I removed the spacer and put some washers on the stud. Thanks to Dave at Scoot Mercato for the info. Electrical was a nightmare! Sorted it out but the choice of EC Unit and the mismatching of the colored wires was pissy. The scoot rocks with the new engine. It outperforms my Stella/LML by a mile - even with the PX jetting.
