Are you turning off the fuel tap when you park it for the night? It could be flooding out and burning off when you start it up in the morning.

My fuel tap is off every time I stop.

It's a big chain saw.

It smokes.

Just one of the many quirks of a 2t engine

thats one of the joys of a 2 stroke the smoke
but what i have noticed after having bought several bran new 2 strokes is during the brake in they seem to smoke a bit more till they warm up
as long as you are not fouling out a plug then i wouldnt worry about it

If it smokes excessively, then it might be a leaky seal within the carb. I had the same issue with my 08'.
