Look under the front headlight cover...I think

No, It's in the back near the fuel tank. If I remember right, you have to remove the side plastics.

No. Just the pet carrier, the rack and the side panels. Pretty simple.

I found that in order to get at the bolt securing it that I had to remove the bolts holding the tank in place and come at it with a long extension for the socket, but once I figured out how to approach it, it came out with ease and she's running great again.

I had that same problem on a 2013 Roughhouse. I replaced the stator first. Ended up being the regulator. Not much info online for the RH.
