Cold weather tip

Post by mike932 »

Put a Fedex mailing envelope under your jacket in front of your chest when riding in chilly weather. It will keep you much warmer. Try it.

serious: That's a good tip.

not so serious: And when you get to your destination you can wear it as a hat, too!

I have used grocery store plastic bags and the plastic bags your paper gets delivered in as well. Insulation is good, blocking wind is better.

I've used a magazine to good effect, and since I'm usually headed to my local Starbucks...

FWIW, FedX and USPS envelopes are made of Tyvek, a waterproof, windproof, and tearproof material.

Another thing that really helps is a windshield. I've been riding in the winter for the past three years, and that windshield really makes a difference!

I bought a corazzo underhoody. Unless it's 10 degrees out, I can ride all day.

Anything that blocks or otherwise diverts the wind would make a world of difference.
A wind proof jacket liner or shell over your jacket. I remember being told stories as a youngster of 'bums' during the depression putting newspapers inside their clothing for warmth. And of course your scooter's windshield.
I can't wait to put mine back on, I need some new parts to facilitate that.

Here's a New England cold weather tip. Be extra careful riding across wet leaves- almost as slippery as wet train/trolley tracks, wet manhole covers, etc. They will slap you down quickly if you hit them with too much lateral force. Been there, etc.
